National Platforms
(for the prevention of competition manipulation)
Evolve Sports Integrity are recognised as global leaders in the delivery and support of National Platforms (as described in Article 13 of the Council of Europe’s Macolin Convention).
Having set-up and subsequently run the UK’s National Platform, as well as having held senior elected positions within the Council of Europe’s Group of Copenhagen, we are well-positioned to provide expert guidance and practical advice to National Platforms.
We support National Platforms at every stage of their development and provide a range of services in the following areas of strategic and operational delivery:
Strategy and Policy Development:
Clear strategy and policy positions are key to the effective functioning of a National Platform. This ensures stakeholder accountability and transparency of a National Platform’s progress against its objectives. We advise stakeholders in both the conceptualisation and implementation of their strategy and policy positions.
Training and Education:
We design and deliver seminars and interactive workshops for industry practitioners. We naturally cover key topics such as anti-match-fixing and sports betting integrity, but in the context of National Platforms, we also advise on the practical challenges including:
The relationships between regulatory and criminal law frameworks
Information sharing
Effective engagement between National Platform stakeholders
Operational Support:
Fulfilling their role as ‘information hubs’, we recognise the need for National Platforms to coordinate and analyse information regarding the manipulation of sporting competitions. We provide the following types of support to stakeholders seeking to develop their expertise in this field:
Producing end-to-end intelligence strategies
Staff training on core intelligence functions
Interpreting betting data and recognising suspicious indicators
Review of sports and gambling regulatory frameworks
Provision of intelligence analysis to support National Platform objectives
Stakeholder engagement:
Effective collaboration between public and private bodies is critical to tackling the threats posed by competition manipulation. Given our significant experience working at the nexus of crime, sport and gambling, we have regularly encountered the common challenges of competing agendas and conflicting priorities. However, we also recognise the incredible value that can be achieved by engaging in constructive stakeholder engagement.
We provide practical advice and guidance on navigating the hurdles and identifying collaborative opportunities (no matter how small) to help your National Platform continue to evolve.
